She didn’t have the luxury of time. Releasing her safety harness, she glanced at the readouts one more time before pushing off. Grabbing the back of her flight seat she flipped herself over. Shoving hard against the cabin roof, she shot towards the engineering access.
Floating along the tunnel, she slowed her travel by grasping rungs in the ladder along the side. Reaching the engineering space, her wrist-com began beeping with a warning of her ship’s decaying orbit. Continue reading Orbital Decay: YeahWrite #281
I’ve looked around for ideas to get my creative juices flowing and came across the “Genre Haiku Challenge” at Rob’s Surf Report. His first challenge was for Science Fiction based haiku, and while I missed the challenge deadline (it only ran for a few days) I decided to give it a shot.
From a dead planet.
A whisper “what do you want?”
The shadows spreading.
The final entries of the first challenge can be found here.
Rob’s December challenge is for Epic Fantasy, I think I will give it a try but my Epic Fantasy experience is mostly limited to Tolkien’s works.
Want to try your hand at it? Let me know if you do!
Author Nathan Lowell once again proves he’s got the right stuff with his novella “A Light in the Dark”.
This shorter tale is the 8th story in Lowell’s Golden Age of the Solar Clipper and is the first in the new novella series “Tales from the Deep Dark”. Nathan continues to expand his world with the fascinating story of Captain Bjorn Gunderson and Odin’s Outpost, a renegade station on the fringe of populated space.
While this work does take place in a larger world it is truly a stand alone series start and you don’t need to be familiar with the Golden Age to enjoy the work (but it doesn’t hurt).
I would highly recommend this work for any fan of Nathan Lowell’s work or good science fiction!
You can find the e-book for Kindle, Nook and Epub direct from the Author. Further reviews can be found over at Goodreads.
Congrats to our FDØ Scott Sigler, his excellent novel Ancestor is now out in paperback!
I have written about Scott’s work back when he was on the NY Times bestseller list.(New Media is “Contagious”)
Ancestor is a wonderful mix of science fiction and horror. If you haven’t read it in Hardcover or listened to the Podiobook, head on over to Amazon US and pickup a copy.
I know you will thank me for it!
What a great way to wake up!
Nathan Lowell’s Full Share is currently the #1 Bestseller (Science Fiction) on the Amazon charts.
Congrats to Nate.
Today is a sad day in the Babylon 5 fandom as another cast-member passes beyond the rim. Actor Jeff Conaway died today.
Well known among fans as Babylon 5 Security Officer/Security Chief Zack Allan, Conaway was also known for his roles in Grease and the sitcom Taxi.
Conaway had a long and diverse career. He will be missed.
