Meeting Friends – DOPPLR can help?

I noticed an interesting site on another site via a blog-badge. DOPPLR is a site for letting people know when you plan on being out and about the country/world.

Looks fairly handy to help plan meet-ups with friends and acquaintances. The privacy settings seem to be fairly tight (possibly a bit too tight). Anyway give it a look you never know.

New Media is “Contagious”

Found an interesting post on it seems that Scott Sigler’s novel “Contagious” (the sequel to “Infected”) made the New York Times Best Sellers list. While I have yet to read or listen to either title I have enjoyed several of Sigler’s other works, especially “Ancestor”.

This major success in traditional media is very cool. You can find the full article over at the Podiobooks blog.

Whiskers in the Jar: Irish Songs for Cat Lovers

On Friday the Podcast feed for the Funny Music Project ( posted a highly amusing parody of “A Drop of Nelson’s Blood” by an artist I was not really familiar with, Marc Gunn (

The song was “A Drop of Vulcan Blood“. This lead me to his website and a large amount of great Celtic traditional and parody music.

Marc has a number of filk songs as well as feline themed parodies of traditional songs. Such as “What Shall We Do With a Catnipped Kitty?”.

So pop on over and give him a listen, while he has many songs available free his works are definitely worth a bit of cash thrown his way.

Getting things rolling

Well my plan is to write at least a single post each day, talking about some item of interest I have come across.

Everything from tech to music to movies. Don’t really have any specific plan as to what it will be any give day. It all depends on what is happening in the world.
