World Book Night 2012, The Day After

Yesterday was World Book Night 2012, if you regularly read my Ramblings, you already know that my daughters and I participated in the event, giving away copies of Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game.

We got set up at the local coffee shop near my office, the Village Bean.

By 8am we were all ready to go, books set out. Now we just needed people to arrive to get their morning caffeine fix :)

Two crazy and fun hours later… all 20 copies had found new homes.

If you had the chance to take part, please leave a comment about your thoughts on the event. If you didn’t, please consider helping out with this worthy and fun cause next year.

[UPDATE: 4/27/12] The girls and I also recorded a segment about this for How To Grow Your Geek, the podcast posted there today.

That’s wonderful that you included your daughters (they are adorable!). It must have been great to see them give the gift of a book. I’ll have to look up some local events here for next year. Thanks for posting.

It was a blast and they had a great time. We recorded a little interview about the event for How To Grow Your Geek. I’ll post more information when it goes out.

I distributed Sophie Kinsella’s book ‘The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic’ around the waiting rooms of my local hospital. I enjoyed it but found it hard to encourage non-book lovers to try it. Book lovers almost bit my hand off at the propect of a free book!

I saw a bit of that too, however my backup team with the power of cute helped cut through the ‘no not a book!’ attitudes a bit.
Glad you were able to get involved, and at such a good location too.
